Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA)

Registered Nurses (RN)

Registered nurses are licensed to assess and offer medical care to patients. They help doctors monitor and manage patients’ health needs based on their individualized care plans.

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN)

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) are certified and have undergone training in offering basic healthcare services for patients. They work under the supervision of Registered Nurses or doctors and can be tasked with taking patients’ vital signs, discussing health concerns with patients and family members, assisting medical professionals with therapy, keeping records of patients’ health history and updating the records accordingly, changing wound dressings, and more.

Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA)

Certified Nursing Assistants are responsible for assisting patients who have difficulties in addressing their personal care. They make sure that patients are kept clean and comfortable to avoid health issues related to lack of proper hygiene. Medical professionals can count on a CNA to assist when patients need to be transferred or ambulated to or from their wheelchairs and beds while keeping patients’ comfort and safety in mind. They can also accompany patients when they go to the bathroom to help them avoid slips and falls.

Ability to work independently, or as part of a team.
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
Shift Scheduling Requirements:
- Must be available for “urgent or last minute” shifts, scheduled within 2 hours of shift start time.
- Must be able to work the flexible shift times, depending on the facility; eight (8) or twelve (12) hours in length.
- Must be able to ‘float’ from unit to unit within a hospital, depending on facility need.
- Must be available to work all shifts – days, evenings & nights – including weekdays, weekends & statutory holidays.
Must be reliable (once availability is given) to be placed at an agreed upon facility/unit.
Must be in compliance with the PHHSA shift acceptance/cancellation policy (provided for review upon hiring).
